Most people in Portland know of Kirk Reeves even if they don't know his name. He has been an icon in Portland since before I came here five years ago. He would always be on the street corner, playing trumpet, wearing mickey Mouse ears, juggling, making puppet shows and more to get everyone around him to just smile. Such a little thing, a smile, but it was enough to make hundreds if not thousands of Portlanders happy.
Kirk's body was found on Sunday, Nov 4th, from a possible suicide. It's so unfortunate that someone that just wanted to make the world happy was lost in their own depression. I know that I get down when I see or hear so much negativity around me. It is hard for me to understand why so many people have to be so negative and ruin the happiness around them. It can be hard to handle.
I know that I am very thankful for every time I got to see this wonderful man trying his best to make the world smile. You will be missed, Mr. Kirk Reeves.

Damn that is sad buddy. More people need the job of making folks smile.
Damn that is sad. More folks need the job of making others smile. I was just thinking we need a Kirk down here in the oklahellmouth. Maybe that's where port landers go when they die....straight to the oklahellmouth. ;)
