These are from the "Girls from Strange Forest" show at The Compund Gallery in April, with Cho Chan and Siori Kawamoto. Cho Chan's work was playful and I liked how she displayed her work.

I really loved Siori Kawamoto's work. Most of her work was pen on paper prints, each colored differently. I liked how the hair of her girls was scribbly and all the lil animals and such floating around.

She also had a ton of little sketches and drawings that were really cheap.

Will Barras was showing at Upper Playground PDX. I thought his work had a nice sense of motion, but the colors were a little distracting.

I did like how he painted on the walls and the pieces both, tying them all together.
This show featured photos of real people and the characters they play on online games. I found this interesting because I have been playing these online games for the past 8 years or so and have played nearly every game they mention. Under each photo they had a lil bio of each person and their characters. This first guy is 45 years old and can barely move his body, but in Star Wars Galaxies he plays a bounty hunter that can run around, dance, jump, lead troops into battle and communicate with other people in ways that aren't available to him in the real world. His bio said that he spends about 80 hours a week in this other world. The pictures are a lil blurry. The photos were behind glass and it was difficult to not get a glare.
This guy plays Everquest and said he lost control and played so much that he let his health decline and never went out. He says he is starting to get his time online under control.
This is a married couple that play online together. They started a guild or supergroup together and now have around 100 members that they play with all the time.
I thought this was an interesting story. These two people were dating and it started going bad so they ended up breaking up. A few years later, the girl is playing City of Heroes and running around with some other players when they tell her she should meet this other character becasue they look so much alike. When she meets him she realizes that it is her ex and now they are friends that play online together. They are also both Greek and beautiful. Proof that is isn't just pimply fat guys. 8) I will hopefully be writing a blog soon over mmorpgs and how they are evloving, why they are alluring and how they impact the real world.
These are a few of the paintings by Melissa Forman. She has an amazing ability to render and all of her paintings had a very subtle beauty to them.
These pics are from another show at The Compound Gallery titled, "Electric Garden." This first pic is of Betsy Walton's work. Her work was ok, but it didn't capture me as much as the other artists.
Peter Hamlin's work was very playful and had a bunch of crazy critters, amalgamations and nice colors that sucked me right in.
But my favorite was the fun little paitnings by the duo team, Apak, consisting of Ayumi and Aaron Piland. These pieces were so much fun. I wish I would have gotten better pics of these and gotten some of the titles. They were so tiny and had these scenes of cute lil alien creatures exploring an alien landscape full of fruits and trees and flowers and tons of fun. They also painted a couple little scenes on the walls to compliment the artwork. Very nice.

i really need to try to get better pictures of some of these. It's so hard when there are so many people and there is low lighting.
This last pic is the art I had on display on the last thursday here in P-Town on Alberta street. Most of them were the drawings i have up on my Myspace page. The one oil painting i did for this and the only one I didn't get scanned in is the only one i sold. It's the one in the middle with the girl with the blue background. I plan on having more like this for the next show on "last thursday." Should be a hoot.

I really need to update this every month so it won't get so backed up. I'll post pics of the 700 naked bike riders and the warships and protesters soon. There's always something going on here in Portland. 8)
